A Lowcountry Website for a Charleston House Painter
Palmetto Painting Contractors is an owner-operated painting company in Mount Pleasant, SC, painting interiors, exteriors, cabinets and decks from Downtown Charleston to Summerville. ByteZero, working with its Carolinas partner SkyBridge Creations, moved it off Wix and onto a 33-page site built to win local search, launched on October 6, 2026.
The Brief
A well-reviewed local painter whose website was a short Wix template. Projects sat under generic URLs like “project-title-2”, service copy was a line or two each, and the pages told search engines little about where the business works or what it does.
The owner answers the phone himself and walks every estimate, so the site had one job: put the right homeowner in front of him, and make every request easy to send.
The brief was a site that looks like Charleston, ranks for the work Palmetto actually does across ten Lowcountry towns, keeps the history the old site had earned, and counts every call and quote request from the first day.
The site is live. Ongoing SEO and Google Business Profile work are the next phase.
What We Built
33 pages, one per job to be won
A homepage, five service pages from interior painting to pressure washing, four Lowcountry area pages, seven project pages, four planning guides, four blog posts, plus about, reviews and contact. Every page has its own title, H1 and hero.
Rainbow Row, not a template
A design direction drawn from Charleston's own painted rows: coral, gold, teal and cobalt on a deep Lowcountry green, with the free-quote button and phone number in the first screen of every page.
A clean move off Wix
Every URL from the old Wix sitemap, including the seven project pages, now 301-redirects to their new homes, so the links and history the old site earned carry over.
Readable by search and AI
HousePainter business data, service, breadcrumb and FAQ markup generated from the same copy the reader sees, plus a fresh sitemap submitted to a verified Search Console domain property on launch day.
From Search to a Call with the Owner
For an owner-operator, every lost request is a lost job. We built the path end to end and instrumented it, so the business can see which pages produce work.
Found
Service, area and guide pages aimed at what Charleston and Mount Pleasant homeowners actually search.
Trusted
Real project photos, six client reviews quoted in full, and renders labelled as renders.
Asked
A free-quote button and a tap-to-call number on every page, sized for a thumb on a phone.
Delivered
The quote form goes straight to the owner. If a send ever fails, it opens the visitor's own email app with the request filled in.
Counted
Phone taps, email clicks and quote requests fire as GA4 events on all 33 pages from day one.
Charleston Searches for Color, Not Just Painters
Keyword research across Charleston and Mount Pleasant turned up two surprises. The biggest local term in the trade was not about painting at all: “pressure washing charleston sc” draws about 390 searches a month, so it got a full service page of its own, while house painting stays the brand.
The second was cultural. In the same two cities, “haint blue” and “Charleston green” together out-draw “painters charleston sc” by almost four to one. Those homeowners are already thinking about paint, so the first blog post answers them, and points to a free quote.
The homepage carries the head term for Charleston, each service page owns its own search, and four area pages cover Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island and Isle of Palms with local detail rather than a swapped town name.
Search volumes are Google Keyword Planner estimates for the cities of Charleston and Mount Pleasant, September 2026: market data, not client performance figures. The site launched in October 2026; performance reporting begins once Search Console and GA4 have gathered meaningful data.
The Site We Shipped
Bright, coastal and fast: a painter's site in the colors of the city it works in, with the quote button and the owner's number never more than a thumb away.

What Comes Next
The website is the foundation. With Search Console and GA4 recording from launch day, the next phase replaces estimates with Palmetto's own data.
SEO on the money pages
Ongoing work on the Charleston and Mount Pleasant service pages, with Search Console data replacing estimates as impressions build.
Google Business Profile
Profile and service-area work for the map pack, where most local painting calls start.
Project case studies
Fuller write-ups of real Palmetto jobs as the owner supplies scope, originals and permission to name each location.
